Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11/02/2026
Money and privacy have something in common: being in control matters. This policy explains what information is collected, why it is collected, and how it is handled.
The Fillennial is a personal finance blog. The website runs on WordPress software, which means certain data is processed through WordPress itself, such as comments, cookies, and security logs. The site can be reached at https://thefillennial.com. For any privacy questions, contact can be made via support@thefillennial.com.
What is Collected?
As little personal data as possible is collected, but certain information is necessary for the site to function. This may include data provided directly, such as an email address when subscribing to the newsletter, or a comment left on a post if that feature is active.
Technical information such as IP addresses and browser details may be processed automatically for security, spam detection, and performance. Cookies may be stored to keep the site working, remember preferences, and allow login sessions where relevant. Statistical data may also be collected to understand how visitors use the site, and when advertisements are active, advertising partners may use cookies to display relevant ads.
Articles may contain embedded content from other websites, such as videos or images. Embedded content behaves exactly as if the visitor accessed the other site directly, which means third parties may collect data or track interaction with their content.
A Data Collection Secret
If there’s anything true in personal finance, it’s that reading the fine print usually pays off. So if you’ve made it this far into the Privacy Policy page there’s something you deserve to know: There is more to this blog than meets the eye.
Between the hero text and the ‘Learn More’ button on the homepage, a hidden link awaits. Finding it is the first step into the deeper layer of The Fillennial: a good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt, where you’ll have to look for hidden rom-com references in my stories. I’d happily invite you to give the whole thing a try, the number of other personal finance blogs with a hidden rom-com Easter egg hunt out there is probably quite limited.
Local storage data is used to track your progress through this Easter egg hunt. The data can be explicitly observed in your browser’s developer console and is not transmitted to any server, meaning it stays entirely on your device until your journey is voluntarily registered.
User Accounts and Data Processing
User accounts are not provided on this site, so no profile information is stored apart from comments that visitors may choose to post.
The legal basis for processing data depends on the context. For newsletters and marketing cookies, consent is relied upon. For site security and performance logs, legitimate interest is the legal basis to keep the site safe and functional.
About Personal Data
The Fillennial intentionally does not capture or store personal data itself. Information may be captured and processed by service providers that support the operation of the site, such as the hosting provider, security and spam detection services, newsletter providers, analytics services, and advertising partners. Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are applied in line with GDPR requirements.
Under the GDPR, the right exists to request access to personal data, to request correction or deletion, and to object to certain processing. These rights apply, but given the minimal data collection approach of this site, exercising them will typically involve the service providers directly rather than The Fillennial.
Because personal data is not held directly by The Fillennial, requests for access, correction, or deletion cannot be fulfilled on this end with the exception of your comments. Inquiries can still be made via support@thefillennial.com, but the response will mostly be limited to directing the request to the relevant service provider where the data is actually stored. This is a conscious choice: by not collecting personal data on the side of The Fillennial, there is also nothing to hand over.
Personal data held by service providers is kept no longer than necessary according to their policies. Newsletter data is stored until an unsubscribe request is made, comments remain online as long as they are published, and technical logs are generally kept for no longer than 12 months unless required for security or abuse investigations.
Integrity and Security
This site is not directed at children under 16, and no personal data is knowingly collected from minors.
Appropriate measures are taken to protect the data collected by and processed via The Fillennial, including encrypted connections, strong account security with multi-factor authentication, and regular updates and backups.
Final Note
To summarize this legally required page: as little personal data as possible is collected, only what is needed for the site to function securely, for you to enjoy its deeper layers, for the newsletter to work, or for ads to display. Control over the sharing of personal information remains entirely with the reader, and personal data is never sold if they do.
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
